Black Butterfly is Buckcherry's fourth studio album, originally released on September 16, 2008. The album marked a continuation of the band's post-reunion momentum, following the commercial success of their 2006 release 15. Produced by Marti Frederiksen and Buckcherry themselves, Black Butterfly further refines the band's blend of hard rock swagger, emotional vulnerability, and high-energy anthems.
Musically, the album features a mix of aggressive, riff-driven rockers and more melodic, introspective ballads. Tracks like "Rescue Me" and "Talk to Me" deliver powerful guitar work and explosive choruses, tapping into themes of personal struggle and emotional desperation. "Rescue Me, " in particular, was inspired by lead singer Josh Todd's reading of A Child Called 'It' by Dave Pelzer, and addresses the trauma of child abuse and the hope of redemption. The song became one of the album's lead singles and a standout for it's raw, urgent energy and The album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200, marking Buckcherry's highest chart position to date at the time. It was released in both standard and very limited deluxe edition.

RMFN Notes:
"Buckcherry was still riding the peak of their career on Black Butterfly and it shows. This album is just about as good on paper as its predecessor 15, however I prefer this one as it pushes the band's boundaries. Sure, their sound has been pretty consistent throughout their career, but Buckcherry decided to dive deeper and make a more urgent, vulnerable, and darker album with Black Butterfly. Big ups to them reincluding 'Too Drunk', still one of my favorite concert pregame tracks." - Chris
