Rick Rubin was the clear savior here, as he convinced the band to make an album as if the 90s and 00s hadn't happen. The result: the thrashiest Metallica album since And Justice For All. This album is jampacked with riffs, complex songwriting and an unforced heaviness by Metallica. My favorites: End Of The Line, Judas Kiss, Unforgiven III, That Was Just Your Life, Cyanide, All Nightmare Long, and The Day That Never Comes (One pt. 2 basically).
