Description
'Slip' is the debut studio album by this New York City post-hardcore band. Criminally unnoticed and sublimely loud, Quicksand reach inside itself for each song, summoning up the power behind each great guitar riff. Following a terse drum roll of greeting, "Fazer" opens the album by laying down an irresistible groove worthy of standing as a mosh pit classic! From the opener "Fazer" through to "Dine Alone" and "Too Official" the music never falters and maintains the consistency that few bands can achieve. Reminiscent of bands like Fugazi and Helmet with maybe a dash of Kyuss, Quicksand are guitar driven angst yet strangely uplifting and accessible at the same time. It's probably the best non-Fugazi post-hardcore record ever released. Slip was recorded by Quicksand members Walter Schreifels (Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today), Tom Capone (Beyond, Bold), Sergio Vega (Deftones, Moondog) and Alan Cage (Beyond, Seaweed) and co-produced by Steven Haigler (Pixies) and Don Fury (Sick of it All, Agnostic Front). Remastered by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor).
